The act of cooking is only a fraction of the process of getting food onto the table and into bellies. Last night while lying in bed with a big, muddy dog at my feet, I wondered why I wasn’t writing about all the bits that come before you turn on your stove – the planning, budgeting, organizing, preparing, reducing waste, and thinking about how this meal is going to make me and my husband happy and healthy. I’ve left it all out and these are the parts I wanted to urge most all along.
I believe that the more in tune one becomes with “the journey”, the more passionate, or at least eager, one gets about making good food. Yet, there are not enough outlets out there that share how to work more seamlessly in the kitchen, so I have decided to make a page called “Better Cooking” to have a conversation about the work that goes into a good meal and how to happily get there.
