My name is Alexandria and as you can see, I’m delighted when surrounded by good food. When I was a little girl, organizing the charcuterie board on Thanksgiving was my absolute highlight of the holiday and now that I am grown, I’m our family’s full-time cook and hostess for holidays and parties.
I live with my husband and our two pets in Lower Austria, where we are surrounded by nature, the vineyards, and Heurige. (Currently, I’m tackling Austrian cuisine which you will hopefully see much of here!)
Food is a reason to gather and connect with loved ones; to laugh, drink, and have deep or silly discussions. Meals have the ability to make the most incredible memories which is why I have so often thought about a life of creating and providing. Although much has come naturally from watching my family cook such incredible meals throughout the years, I am mostly self-taught: I try to learn something new every day so that I am always able to share something special with loves ones.
The rest of my passion for food and cooking comes from my continued traveling experiences. I love learning how food is intertwined in cultures and communities, how to make traditional meals and learning about their importance, how communities share – or even fight over – recipes, and why certain ingredients are so vital to a dish in making the flavors come alive. The ability to never have to truly leave a country feels like my superpower because I can bunker down in my kitchen and recreate the sites and smells, and reminisce from my senses alone.
I am so happy to bring alexlyn.at to life to share my own homecooked meals made from accessible, budget-friendly ingredients. Please reach out to discuss, share, or just to say hello!
